Our motorhome and campervan insurance

At Discover, we make sure you are well covered when hiring a Motorhome or renting a Camper Van. Each Motorhome hire has the very best fully comprehensive UK insurance included, provided by LV, Liverpool Victoria. We pride ourselves on choosing the ultimate cover for you.

We are happy to insure anyone to rent a motorhome with 2 years experience, between 25 and 75 years old. For 2013 we also can accept drivers between 22 and 25, subject to our insurers approval.

If you are aged 22 to 24 and want to rent motorhome from Discover, please call us, we will take some information from you, please dont put an online booking here.

However, you may wish to upgrade your motorhome hire cover with any of our waiver upgrades.

Can I reduce the excess when I hire a motorhome from Discover.co.uk?

Our standard excess is £500 or £750 when travelling outside the UK. For your peace of mind, this can be reduced by upgrading your coverage. Our VVIP motorhome has a standard excess of £1000 which cannot be reduced.

• For UK use, reducing your excess to £250 costs £7.50 per day
• For use outside the UK, reduce your excess to £250 for £10 per day

How much does it cost to rent a motorhome to use outside the UK?

Lots of our customers choose to take their Motorhome holidays in Europe. We are happy with any of our Motorhome and Camper Van rentals on over 7 days to go outside the UK. Our insurers make additional charges for Motorhome hire in Europe, but we try and keep our insurance costs as low as possible, passing on the surcharge only. For use outside the UK we charge a £10 per day supplement. This is available only on hires of one week or more. Please note the VVIP model is not allowed outside the UK. 

This cost also includes the fee levied by the government for the VE103B certificate, an essential document for 2013 when travelling in a hire vehicle in Europe and your green card.

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria , Cyprus , Czech Republic , Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden

Additionally, we have arranged insurance for the following non European Union Countries for Motorhome Hire;

Iceland, Norway or Switzerland

How much does it cost to add extra drivers to a Motorhome hire?

Discover allow up to 3 drivers on a Camper Van rental or Motorhome hire, each additional driver costs £25.00.

I have points on my licence, is this OK to hire a Motorhome?

We are happy with drivers with up to 6 points on your licence. Any hirer with 4 to 6 points is subject to a £5.00 per day additional cost. 3 points has no additional insurance surcharge.

Please remember that we do not provide contents cover for your personal possessions when you hire a motorhome or campervan,  we strongly suggest that you cover this separately, or check your home contents cover as you may already be insured. Of course we do provide a full alarm and tracker system to reduce this risk.
